I pass by La Casa de Los Tacos everyday on my way to work in Secaucus. It’s a small space located on County Avenue. I decided one Friday to visit this taco spot with my co-workers. Upon walking in you’ll be greeted by a friendly staff and warm inviting decor. On the walls you’ll find miniature sombreros and a chalkboard menu calling out the great Mexican food here.

Let’s get down to it, Taco review time: not all taco spots have Al Pastor tacos as part of their menus. Basically when I see al pastor offered as my uncle would say “that’s the move.” Al pastor also tends to vary in style as well, typically you’ll find it roasting on a large stick similar to how shawarma is cooked. It’s usually pork marinated with pineapple. To see an example of it being cooked take a look at El Grito’s review from my Dublin Trip.

The al pastor at La Casa de Los Tacos was most likely cooked on the grill. First off great display and fresh ingredients. All tacos here come as an order of three, my al pastor tacos came double wrapped in some pretty good corn tortillas, they were topped with cilantro, and diced yellow onion. You find two sauce options here, the mild=green and the hotter=orange, unfortunately there’s not a huge amount of flavor or kick from these sauces.
The meat itself was tender and quite good the marinade missed out here, it tasted like it had been soaked in lime more than pineapple. There really wasn’t a lot of flavor here. I had some of my friends nachos and they were outstanding. I could see this place being a great restaurant for other Mexican food.
