Like most good ideas drugs were involved in this one, the story goes that a few kids stoned out of their minds and came by one night demanding tacos. Listening to their request the Tony Boloney’s Taco Pizza was born. Besides great Pizza Tony Boloney’s is also known for their Taco Pizza which is only made on Tuesday’s at the Hoboken, Jersey City and Atlantic City Location. It’s already an internet famous pizza, featured on Buzz-feed, all the way to Rachel Ray, but it has tacos on it, so yeah…let’s review. I have been to the Tony Boloney’s Hoboken location before for some late night pizza with friends, but Tuesday’s are special here. A Pizza Place making tacos is not an after thought here, the tortillas are actually homemade so big bonus points here. The meat on the tacos is a jewish brisket (my favorite), chicken and beef. (absolutely phenomenal) In the middle of the pizza you’ll find guacamole and sour cream, take each taco off and dip in. Finish it all off with the slice of pizza, those are the rules.
Make sure you have a few napkins, it will get messy. The quality of the ingredients, from the meat to the home made tortillas really sets this uh taco..pizza apart. By the way the Taco pizza bought as a pie comes in at 30 lbs. (lift weights, eat pizza)
Be aware in the press videos you’ll see online that the pizza uses a house made Oaxaca cheese and mole sauce. While dinning at the Hoboken location the pizza under the tacos was a standard slice of cheese pizza, this was only a let down after I realized it later. I have had their specialty slices here before and the pizza is very good. The most important piece here for this review are the tacos. The standard slice of cheese pizza was still good, after stuffing my face with three very tasty tacos, it really doesn’t effect my score. Just make sure to go here hungry.
